About The Ministry
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was established in 1963 after independence as an External Affairs Department under the Office of the Prime Minister. In 1969 it became a fully-fledged Ministry, and in 2023 it was split into two State Departments — the State Department for Foreign Affairs and the State Department for Diaspora Affairs. The Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs is mandated by the Constitution of Kenya 2010 and the Foreign Service Act 2021 to manage Kenya's foreign policy and coordinate the country's international relations at bilateral, regional and multilateral levels.
